LIBRARIAN develops and maintains a collection of books and other materials and provides research and reference support to library users. Researches publications and suggests new sources and offerings for acquisition to enhance the collection. Being a LIBRARIAN performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To serve as an educational leader that supervises and manages the school library media center. Promote the integration of curriculum and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. Serve as a facilitator of knowledge to ensure that the library/media center is involved in the instructional programs of the school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certificate or endorsement
Master of library Science preferred or Masters plus Librarian endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of library skills, automation system, inventory and library standards and procedures
Knowledge of technology hardware, software, and applications skills.
Strong organizational, communication, management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Experience with Windows 7/10
