LIBRARIAN develops and maintains a collection of books and other materials and provides research and reference support to library users. Researches publications and suggests new sources and offerings for acquisition to enhance the collection. Being a LIBRARIAN performs cataloging and creates bibliographies and metadata to classify the library's collection of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials. Designs and delivers research support processes and services to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, LIBRARIAN distributes up-to-date information on new acquisitions, library activities, and services. Oversees the selection and maintenance of technology infrastructure and tools used in the library. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The LIBRARIAN occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. POSITION TITLE: Librarian

REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As assigned by contract, 2023-2024 school year
Primary Purpose:
Direct the operation of the school library/media center. Provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. Incorporate curriculum and technology in the services and resources for students. Serve as teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library/media center is involved in instructional programs of the school.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master’s degree from accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certificate or endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of library media program
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
Strong technology skills
Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years classroom teacher experience
