Position Status- Work Study

Classification Title- CWS-Up to 15 hpw Work Location Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary- Music Librarians are responsible for copying, sorting, filing, cataloging, codifying, and otherwise assisting in maintaining the library’s musical selections and related instructional materials.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student and registered for classes
• Must meet all Work Study eligibility requirements through the Financial Aid Office
• Patience: Musical selections often contain many pages that must be copied, sorted, filed, etc.
• Attention to Detail: Different arrangements of a single musical selection are quite common. Each must be recognized, sorted, filed, etc. as a separate selection
• Computer Skills: Simple digital data entry (title, composer, numerical identification) is necessary
• Legible Handwriting: Handwritten identification of musical selections and related instructional materials will sometimes be necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in music study and performance

Essential Functions

• Ability to copy, sort, file, catalog, codify, and maintain library materials.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• The person in this position needs to move to other locations on campus occasionally
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
• Use of manual dexterity
• Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/move up to 25 pounds
• The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
• Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
• Duties mostly indoors

Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary- $9.20 per hour

Max Salary- $9.20 per hour
