Imaginarium Book Festival is looking for two energetic people to support set-up/breakdown tasks at our festival this year, June 7-8, 2024. The event takes place at the University of the District of Columbia Student Center (right next to Van Ness train station). We are expecting almost 1000 authors and readers this year and would love for you to join us!
During the event, you will be helping with the set-up/breakdown of special events, room changeover, moving crates, etc. This is a labor-intensive position. You will be expected to lift heavy items, stand on (short) ladders, and transport items around the venue (carts will be provided). We would prefer if you had some convention experience though everyone is welcome to apply. If you are overwhelmed by large crowds and noisy environments, this may not be the position for you.
This position requires a TWO-DAY COMMITMENT and you must be LOCAL TO WASHINGTON DC (within 30 miles). If you do not meet these requirements, we unfortunately cannot hire you for this position.
The shifts are as follows:
10am ET – 3pm ET
8am ET – 2pm ET
*You must be able to work the FULL shift on both days*
Attire: Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes.
Transportation: You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the event. The venue is right next to Van Ness Train station (on the red line) and there is on-site parking for $12/day. There is also street parking available.
Payment will be received the week AFTER the event via Venmo, Zelle or PayPal (CashApp is not available). You will be required to submit a W-9 before payment. Blank forms can be found on the IRS website.
