  • About The Role

    Position provides professional leadership and management to Commercial Loan Department personnel, including Credit Administration. The role involves guiding activities in accordance with the Bank's goals, objectives, and overall strategy as it relates to its market and the overall credit. Directs financial policies and practices of the bank to ensure financial objectives, overall credit goals, and institutional growth are met in accordance with policies of the Bank President/CEO, Board of Directors, and government regulations. Responsible for creating and maintaining the credit culture of the division including enforcing loan policy, approving new loans, recommending loan structure, monitoring credit concentration limits, and managing past due loans. This position also coordinates external loan audits, internal and external loan review programs, annual review by credit department personnel, and collateral documentation review systems, and monitors the company's risk grading system.


    About You

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Establish collaborative environment and implement the strategic direction of the division that supports the direction of the Bank, and periodically assess performance against Bank's strategic goals.
    • Participate as a member of the Senior Management team in the development of the Bank's long-range planning and strategic goals. Institute and direct immediate long-range planning based on continual evaluation of results.
    • Provide leadership in establishing overall objectives, policies, and plans in the areas credit administration and loan operations. Formulate, recommend, and review policies and procedures that relate to the designated departments.
    • Work with Bank President/CEO as a member of the Senior Management team in reviewing overall operations and advising on policy questions, staff requirements, performance appraisals, and other administrative matters. Responsible for achieving income statement/revenue and balance sheet goals. Review reports and financial statements and monitor financial activities.
    • Provide timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback to employees; develop employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance career growth. Delegate authority to subordinate officers to administer activities and operations under their direct control.
    • Represent the bank as the senior credit officer on all necessary committees and meetings at the Glacier Bancorp, Inc. holding company level and is the voting member for FSB on those committees. Serve as a member of the FSB Board of Directors. Chair FSB Division and Director of loan committees. Represent the Bank in the designated market and establish and maintain relations with other companies, businesses, community associations, and governmental agencies within designated marketplace. Actively participate and represent Bank in various community, civic, and professional organizations.
    • Provide oversight of loan operations including loan servicing. Lead the implementation of new processes and procedure in the areas of credit administration and loan operations. Provide oversight of real estate appraisal and evaluation functions to include management of external vendors.
    • Oversee credit administration at the market level, which includes monitoring credit quality, past due credits, non-performing loans, and clearing outstanding loan conditions. Plan, implement, and control the Bank's fiscal objectives for designated market. Ensure the credit quality of division loan portfolios, adhere to established credit limits and monitor credit performance of the commercial lending staff.
    • Participate in or actively lead special projects pertaining to credit administration or other company-wide initiatives. Provide guidance to loan officers and credit analysis staff on the company's overall lending policy to meet loan growth expectations, noting significant trends and recommending policy changes if necessary. Advise and implement changes in commercial loan policy and/or basic organizational structure to accomplish objectives related to lending departments.
    • Participate in coordination of communication and reporting activities between departments and branch offices to ensure availability of data required for efficient daily operations. Actively participate in loan committee and/or other committees as assigned. Attempt to ensure that individual loans are risk rated correctly when reviewing loans for loan committee submission.
    • Ensure audit reviews are rated satisfactory. Take corrective actions as necessary when audit standards are not being attained. Assemble information and reports pursuant to regulatory exams and outside audits. Participate in achieving the annual deposit and loan growth goals assigned for the lending department.
    • Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company including hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies, and work rules, appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination as appropriate.
    • Effectively document and address work/behavior/performance issues. Consult with HR regarding formal disciplinary and/or termination procedures prior to acting. Effectively handle and resolve conflict and work with difficult employees and/or situations.
    • Lead team through change while demonstrating positive attitude and behaviors. Support department, division, and company initiatives. Identify and effectively resolve problems. Maintain schedules to always ensure adequate coverage.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A minimum of ten years of commercial lending experience and/or small business or middle-market experience.
    • Documented leadership experience in a bank environment, including management experience is preferred.
    • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
    • Must possess current valid driver's license.

    • Extensive knowledge of commercial lending practices and procedures. Must have experience analyzing business financial statements and assessing the viability of businesses. Must have excellent communication and PR skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of customers and staff. Must have the ability to work under pressure and handle a continual schedule of distractions and inquiries requiring immediate decisions.

Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency.

    Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
