Legal Services Director oversees the activities of the organization's legal department. Provides legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding contracts, state/federal regulatory requirements, intellectual property or trademark protection, and other business matters. Being a Legal Services Director reviews all information and prepares defense for any legal actions against the organization or advises on prosecuting lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Coordinates and reviews the work of internal or external legal staff. Additionally, Legal Services Director manages staff of attorneys. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Legal Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. This role is a full-time, non-exempt position supporting attorneys in our Private Clients and Fiduciary Services Group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, revising legal documents and correspondence, proofreading, timekeeping, processing invoices and expense reimbursement requests, maintaining files (paper and electronic), calendaring and tracking deadlines, scanning, conducting online and general research, answering the telephone, assisting clients, and responding promptly with the ability to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with experience in a full-service law firm and/or applicable educational background. Previous experience with estate planning, estate administration, probate litigation and/or trust administration is highly preferred. The successful candidate will be capable of producing high quality work in a timely and professional manner, while providing exceptional client service and team support.
The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and advanced computer skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
