Legal Services Director oversees the activities of the organization's legal department. Provides legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding contracts, state/federal regulatory requirements, intellectual property or trademark protection, and other business matters. Being a Legal Services Director reviews all information and prepares defense for any legal actions against the organization or advises on prosecuting lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Coordinates and reviews the work of internal or external legal staff. Additionally, Legal Services Director manages staff of attorneys. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Legal Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Legal Services Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Director of Nursing assists with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by being responsible for the overall staffing, staff training and development, and management of personnel in the Nursing Department. The Director of Nursing also is responsible for the overall quality of care assessment, planning, documentation and provision of services to residents.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervising day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department
    • Create a positive team environment that is patient/resident centered
    • Demonstrate excellent understanding of clinical skills and key nursing programs
    • Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines
    • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of department
    • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting
    • Help determine staffing needs
    • Provide direct nursing care as necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in nursing service administration required including 2 or more as a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility
    • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maine required
    • Education or experience in long term care or geriatric nursing
    • Must be able to demonstrate age specific knowledge of developmental factors for adult and geriatric residents
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution
    • Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
    • Strong customer service skills and compassion
