Legal Secretary jobs in Ohio

Our client located in Painesville is looking for a Legal Secretary/Assistant to class action litigation partner in a plaintiff law firm.

Responsibilities:

• Candidate must have strong attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
• Position involves managing large volume of emails, phone calls, and other communications from courts, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and class members.
• Most important aspect of position is maintaining frequently-changing calendar, meetings, hearings, personal schedule, task list of managing partner who handles plaintiff consumer class action litigation in courts of Ohio and nationwide.
• Practice involves large volumes of documents (evidence, records, etc.) and pleadings, so candidate must be comfortable with accurately storing and maintaining these materials.
• Since practice area of this partner involves heavy emphasis on legal issues, appeals, and supreme court practice, reasonable knowledge of Ohio and federal rules of civil procedure and appellate procedure is required.
• Candidate must be proficient in MS Office, Adobe Pro, and possess the ability to work with legal technology (court-filing systems, PACER, etc.)
• Position involves live dictation and typing, but this is not primary focus of responsibility.
• Ability to draft simple court filings (extensions, etc.) a plus.
