Being a Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. also requires training and Lean certification through an accredited organization. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Manufacturing Process Specialist – Abilene, KS
     

     

    Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg is seeking a motivated team player to join the Abilene team as a Manufacturing Process Specialist to work alongside the manufacturing team to rapidly improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery. 

     

    This position reports directly to the plant manager and works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with overtime on Fridays, as required. 

      

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Work directly with all levels in the organization to identify and remove process waste 
    • Design, construct, and implement sustainable solutions to process challenges 
    • Improve material flow by devising simple material handling solutions 
    • Develop and implement Poka-Yoke devices to ensure first-time quality  
    • Conduct time studies, evaluate process elements, and document standard work  
    • Assist in training and implementing new standards 
    • Audit processes to ensure that safety standards and lean initiatives are sustained 
    • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment
    • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment

       

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications:  

    • Lean advocate with a demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes 
    • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to identify and solve complex issues quickly  
    • High attention to detail, sound problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership 
    • Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and within team structures 
    • Strong communication and presentation skills 
    • Clear commitment to the success of the organization 
    • The ability to influence, inspire, and motivate other personnel 
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
