Lean Manufacturing Specialist assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization. Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes. Being a Lean Manufacturing Specialist employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Lean Manufacturing Specialist also requires training and Lean certification through an accredited organization. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Lean Manufacturing Specialist typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety and environmental compliance and human resources background, with applicable federal and state regulations and standards.
Excellent communication skills (oral/written/public speaking/presentation). Strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets and databases). Ability to guide and direct teams and/or committees. Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices and procedures within the occupational health, safety field.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will coordinate and advance the organization’s health and safety programs. Responsibilities of the position include conducting safety inspections, training for new and existing employees, leading safety committees, ensuring that environmental and safety regulations are being met and participating in team huddles at both Wittern manufacturing facilities (Clive and Waukee).
