The Leader of Pre-Production is responsible for ensuring that all elements necessary for the successful production of ARMI products are in place before the manufacturing phase begins. The Pre-Production Leader plays a critical role in coordinating activities, managing resources, and maintaining quality standards in the early stages of production.

    Team Leadership Responsibility

    · Attend supervisor training through the ARMI Leadership Center. Follow company guidelines for formal steps of discipline for legal purposes.

    o Interview all candidates for open positions and communicate with your immediate supervisor as to who want to hire when finding a high achiever.

    o New hires – terminate anytime from day one to day 59.

    o Day 60 team member – you determined they are not an average joe. They are a keeper and part of our elite team.

    o Team member past the 60-day period, must be disciplined per the employee handbook.

    · Supervise each team member within this area of responsibility – per ARMI handbook.

    · Fill out performance score cards for each team member bi-annually to provide accurate feedback and documentation for their employee file.

    · Chart a progression plan for each team member you supervise at the bi-annual mark – HR to oversee.

    · Other duties assigned.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    · Team Supervision: Motivate, support, provide guidance, and manage a team consisting of scheduling, purchasing, and other roles involved in the pre-production phase.

    · Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production.

    · Find new and improved ways to stage raw material, jobs, and equipment in the shop that makes Mfg. more efficient.

    · Evaluate machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.

    · Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.

    · Set productivity goals for each team in pre-production.

    · Ensure adequate scheduling of staff.

    · Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines. Must be able to multitask and adapt to moving targets.

    · Supervise and evaluate performance of scheduling, purchasing, and pre-production personnel.

    · Coordinate and supervise the work activities of employees.

    · Resolve workplace differences and conflicts to achieve goals and objectives in a professional, team-oriented manner.

    · Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in pre-production operations.

    · Documentation: Maintain accurate records of design changes, materials used, and other relevant data for future reference and analysis.

    · Safety Compliance: Ensure that all pre-production activities adhere to safety regulations and standards and provide a safe working environment for the team.

    · Communication: Act as a liaison between the pre-production department and other departments, such as production, to facilitate a seamless transition from design to fabrication.

    · Problem Solving: Address any issues or challenges that arise during the pre-production phase and implement solutions to minimize delays.

    · Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for the team to enhance their skills and knowledge in metal fabrication processes.

    · Get prior approval from GM and HR regarding hiring, terminating, and disciplining of employees.

    · Help GM with approval of maintenance work, purchasing of tools etc.

    · Assist in ensuring the product meets quality standards.

    · Assist HR with recruitment efforts and ensure training of new employees is being managed by leads with assistance from HR.

    · Enforce health and safety standards.

    · Other duties as assigned.

    Planning and Scheduling: Creates and coordinates with scheduling department to ensure production schedules and timelines for pre-production activities, including nesting, procurement, and routing of parts throughout appropriate departments in the shop.

    · Oversees the scheduling department and ensures that the department is successfully creating and scheduling work orders through cell structure in Manufacturing Facility.

    • Coordinates with General Manager and Account Managers regarding timelines for drawing release and timelines allowed for completion.

    · Oversees communication closely with Account Managers on progress or plan deviations. Helps determine innovative solutions to meet customer needs.

    · Works closely with the General Manager and Account Managers to develop and execute production plans, develop solutions for arising issues and improve production performance.

    · Ensures that the scheduling department is updating and modifying the schedule to generate daily production schedules.

    · Oversees the Scheduling department ensuring that they are checking Counterpart on current projects to make sure all work orders are completed in each work cell before job moves on to the next work cell.

    · Work collaboratively on organizing workflows to meet specifications and deadlines. Must be able to multitask and adapt to moving targets.

    Nesting Review: Oversees the nesting/sheet metal utilization processes, ensuring nesting is feasible, cost-effective, and meets quality standards.

    · Strategically reduce drop material via new methods of nesting and/or custom sheet sizes

    · Work with Continuous Improvement Specialist and Leader of Cutting and Forming to determine best nesting practices (which laser to send nests to, tabbing of parts, etc.)

    · Oversees the Nesting Department ensuring that the procedures of creating CNC machine programs using DXF files, BOM’s using excel and MRP software, and nested 2D programs for execution at laser, and integrated press brake programs including the definition of tooling used and bend order are properly being followed.

    · Aid in the process of sheet stock management and material tracking

    · Helps to ensure accuracy and optimal sheet utilization in Nesting Department

    · Assists Nesting Department when needed for outsourcing of machine parts and in-house machining production.

    · Ensure that there is a collaboration with the Scheduling Department and Nesting Department to determine priority of jobs being sent to the laser to ensure healthy backlogs in each department downstream.

    · Oversees that the Nesting Department is providing input on constructability of designs, and providing knowledge to engineering department on tolerances of press brake, laser, and waterjet.

    Procurement: Coordinate the procurement of materials, ensuring the availability of the necessary raw materials and components for production.

    · Oversees the Procurement Department and all purchasing activities.

    · Ensures that the Procurement Department is creating and maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, obtaining OEM Pricing, when possible, etc.

    · Oversees that the Procurement Department is creating and maintaining a strategic purchasing plan with the different suppliers.

    · Oversees the development / implementation of proper approval processes regarding all purchases at Mfg.

    · Works with Procurement Department on tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness, also to monitor/forecasts price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.

    · Coordinates with Procurement Department to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.

    · Ensures that there is strategic sourcing of material for the Procurement Department that it is in line with the company vision.

    · Works with the Procurement Team so they stay current with purchasing technology trends and oversee purchase and implementation, as necessary.

    · Inventory Management: Works with Procurement Team/Material Handlers to monitor and manage inventory levels and components to prevent shortages or overstocking.

    Material Handling: Manages the transportation and manipulation of manufactured components, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate destination promptly. Guarantees optimal utilization of MRP software and production schedules to swiftly identify priorities for selecting and delivering materials to their designated locations.

    · Oversees the Material Handler in maintaining and updating of inventory documentation for components and fabricated parts within the workshop.

    · Ensures that there is effective communication between the Material Handler and MRP Coordinator regarding any necessary changes to work orders.

    · Assists with cycle counts of flat pattern inventory when needed

    · Ensures that the Material Handler relocates parts to their designated locations in alignment with system information. Documents and adheres to pre-established processes and procedures.

    · Oversees the review and verification of parts in the MRP system, comparing them against physical results to ensure consistency in the information presented in both.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
