JOB SUMMARY
The Security Manager manages and coordinates activities of security staff, which may include Security Supervisors and Security Guards, engaged in protection of the organization, and investigates various crimes against the organization. Serves as the secondary security administrator for the management, implementation, and continued development of the Forest Lawn Security Program.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Partner with Security Director to develop, implement, and administer programs to protect the organization, employees, and clients families from theft, sabotage, violence, or other situations that endanger the well-being of client families, employees, or organization facilities.
- Develop, implements, and administers methods and procedures for monitoring work activities of staff to inform management of current status or work activities.
- Inspect premises to determine security needs.
- Study physical conditions, observes activities, and confers with staff to obtain data regarding internal operations.
- Manage the installation and operation of electronic security systems, including but not limited to closed-circuit surveillance, entry controls, burglar alarms, ultrasonic motion detectors, electric eyes, and outdoor perimeter and microwave alarms.
- Analyze data compiled from security equipment, investigations, interviews, and staff reports.
- Conduct or manages surveillance of suspects and premises to help identify and apprehend culprits.
- Partner with Security Director to notify client and/or upper management of security weaknesses, and develops and implements procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and, per Forest Lawn’s record retention policy, destroying classified materials.
- Ensure comprehensive training of staff and employee compliance on organization’s security and safety policies and practices.
- May coordinate communication and cooperates with law enforcement when necessary.
- Report criminal information to authorities and testifies in court.
- Head internal investigations relating to sensitive security issues.
- Inspect premises to determine security needs and recommends protection measures.
- Participate in investigation of crimes, including but not limited to fraud, robbery, or arson.
- May conduct internal investigations relating to sensitive security issues.
- May investigate acts of vandalism or theft and works with law enforcement as necessary.
- Prepare written reports of results of investigations as required.
- May remove unruly individuals or detain them until they can be turned over to proper authorities.
- Apply the Forest Lawn Security Program for regular operations by:
- Review all reported security incidents;
- Conduct or coordinating follow-up investigations as needed;
- Perform periodic site visits/inspections on a regular basis; and maintain a security incident reporting mechanism and a statistical database on all security incidents
- Respond to security incidents, as available, for observation, supervision, and incident management as needed.
- Prepare a quarterly report of security related statistics and specific incidents for Security Committee and Management Safety Committee.
- Coordinate all security systems operations with Security Director, Senior Vice President–Operations, Purchasing, and Vice President–Facilities, as well as other members of management who are part of the operational maintenance of the systems.
- Remain abreast of industry security standards related to Cemetery and Mortuary Operations.
- Remain abreast of security standards related to Workplace Violence, Access Control, Executive Protection, Cash Handling etc.
- Conduct an annual review of the Security Management Plan and recommend changes, additions, and improvements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS required; and 10 years related experience in Security and 2 years in management or Law enforcement experience may be substituted, with 5 years total sworn law enforcement experience and 2 years as a Sgt. or above.
- Experience in Investigations and Incident Command.
- Knowledge of Security Systems, including CCTV, Access Control, Alarms and other related electronic measures.
- Valid CA DL required.
- Certified Protection Professional designation from ASIS - must obtain designation within 5 years. Must maintain CPP designation.

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Forest Lawn has registered to participate in the federal government's E-Verify program.
