Laundry Manager manages the daily operations of a laundry services department. Assigns and reviews the work of laundry employees engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, packaging and delivering laundry to various departments or guests. Being a Laundry Manager may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a hotel manager. The Laundry Manager supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     Job Summary 

    Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Housekeeping and Laundry Manager to manage the day-to-day housekeeping and laundry functions of assigned personnel and ensure that personnel are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures. 

    Essential Functions: 
    • Must have high standards of cleanliness, be able to work within budgetary guidelines, and develop staff to do the job.  
    • Assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. 
    • Coordinate daily housekeeping services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.  
    • Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner. 
    • Ensure that housekeeping personnel follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.  
    • Ensure that established Infection Control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.  
    • Must be capable of operating and maintaining all housekeeping / laundry equipment (i.e., pressing machines, commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).   
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the position's requirements.  
    • Available for on-call for emergencies.  
    Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:
    • High School diploma or equivalent.  
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. 
    • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations 
    • Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations. 
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  
    • Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.  
    • Knowledge of applicable state regulations.  
    • Demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control, Hazardous Waste, Disaster Plan, etc.  
    • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.  
    • Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
