The Laundry Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of laundry employees engaged in the Wash and Finish process of linens and other hospital articles in accordance with the established procedures while ensuring an efficient and cost effective operation.
Supervises the employees in a manner by planning, organizing and monitoring activities such as collecting soiled laundry, weighing and sorting laundry, washing, and extracting, drying, ironing, wrapping, folding and mending to obtain maximum results.
Determine the amount of laundry to be processed and plans work schedules accordingly.
Observes employees in performance of duties and assesses techniques to improve production and maintain work flow.
Ensures that laundry is sorted according to volume, degree of stain or soil, and types of articles. Segregates heavily stained articles for pre-washing and assures that the washer is loaded to designated capacity.
Ensures that water is heated to proper degree to reduce soil and infection and that proper amounts of detergents, bleach, and/or bluing is added according to treatment required and that specific chemicals are added at the proper steps.
Inspects wash at various stages for cleanness and recommends changes in washing and rinsing procedures to effect a clean, sanitary wash.
Orients and instructs new employees, emphasizing the importance of adhering to prescribed methods, techniques, and procedures to avoid spread of infection.
Ensures that employees receive orientation in use of supplies and equipment by demonstrating use and explaining operating techniques.
Accountable for laundry equipment maintenance in assuring it is serviced and functioning according to manufacturer guidelines.
Accountable for ensuring that established procedures are followed throughout all phases of the laundering process.
Accountable for training and supervision of Laundry Employees.
Accountable for maintain adequate inventory of supplies
Accountable for ensuring consistent high quality of laundering.

Certified Laundry Manager must be a high school graduate, with 2-years college preferred and a minimum of four (4) years experience as a Central Laundry Supervisor.
