Job Summary
Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Housekeeping and Laundry Manager to manage the day-to-day housekeeping and laundry functions of assigned personnel and ensure that personnel are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Must have high standards of cleanliness, be able to work within budgetary guidelines, and develop staff to do the job.
- Assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
- Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
- Ensure that housekeeping personnel follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
- Ensure that established Infection Control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Must be capable of operating and maintaining all housekeeping / laundry equipment (i.e., pressing machines, commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the position's requirements.
- Available for on-call for emergencies.
Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations
- Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
- Knowledge of applicable state regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Infection Control, Hazardous Waste, Disaster Plan, etc.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
- Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
