LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

  • Duties

    • You will perform landscape architectural design, including planning, concept design development, sustainable design, design analyses, compliance with codes and standards.
    • You will present design and studies to higher level authorities or other Components within NAVFAC, and to Supported Commanders.
    • You will provide technical landscape architectural training and mentoring for new and junior employees.
    • You will coordinate landscape architectural designs with the architectural and engineering disciplines for Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) projects to ensure overall compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design.
    • You will prepare landscape architecture design, construction documents and specifications, for new and renovation projects to various types of Navy and Marine Corps facilities, using the latest technological design and drafting tools (CAD).

    Qualifications

    In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Provide professional specialized landscape architectural assessment services, guidance, and consultation for supported customer project sites and structures;
    • Develop landscape architecture concepts, principles and practices to support the full range of design, layout, and building sites;
    • Communicate in verbal and written form to present proposed designs and results of studies, produce results of analysis, consolidate findings, and evaluate recommendations;
    • Track the progress of projects to ensure that they are kept within construction budgets; and
    • Complete drawings and specifications within allotted design schedules.

    Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

    A. You have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in a landscape architecture or landscape design.

    OR You have successfully completed a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture in an accredited college or university.

    OR

    B. You have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience - for each year short of graduation, you must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience included original landscape design.
