Overview:
As a landscaper, you will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining outdoor spaces to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of clients. This role involves a combination of practical skills and physical labor to create and maintain landscapes that are visually appealing, sustainable, and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation: Execute landscape designs by preparing the site, installing plants, trees, and other landscaping elements, laying sod or seeding lawns, constructing curbing/borders and other hardscaping features under the direction and supervision of the leadership team.
2. Plant Care: Plant, transplant, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation. Monitor plant health and provide necessary care such as watering, fertilizing, and pest control.
3. Lawn Maintenance: Mow lawns, trim edges, and perform lawn treatments such as aerating, dethatching, and overseeding. Maintain irrigation systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.
4. Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, tillers, and power tools. Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
5. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide recommendations for landscape improvements. Maintain professional demeanor and uphold company standards for quality and customer satisfaction.
6. Sustainability Practices: Implement sustainable landscaping practices such as water conservation, native plant selection, composting, and integrated pest management. Educate clients about eco-friendly landscaping options and benefits.
7. Seasonal Maintenance: Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal, and mulching. Prepare landscapes for seasonal changes and ensure year-round beauty and functionality.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in landscaping or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of plants, horticulture, and landscaping techniques.
- Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and carrying heavy objects.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
- Certification or training in landscaping, horticulture, or related field is a plus.
