POSITION SUMMARY
Beginning salary range is between $42,577.60 and $63,866.40 depending on credentials and/or experience. Additionally, this position comes with an annual vehicle allowance of $6380 and an annual cell allowance of $720.
Under general supervision, the position will perform duties relative to urban arboriculture, urban forestry, and horticulture. The position is responsible for development site plan review, right-of-way tree inspection, and site inspection for tree protection, buffers and landscape installation. The incumbent will assist with park and trail upgrades and enhancement projects, and will assist with oversight of the County landscape management contracts for streets, parks, buildings and facilities.
The position provides oversight of the tree ordinance compliance and revisions. The incumbent will assist with the County Greenspace program, land acquisition, state grant funding, and stewardship programs. The position will provide consultation, advice and educational materials. The incumbent will assist in the updating of the county ordinance related to buffering and landscaping. The incumbent will continually evaluate County tree protection, buffering, and landscaping requirements for effectiveness, and assist in the development of new policies, ordinances, and procedures, when necessary.
Work is performed in an office and outside where the incumbent may be exposed to inclement weather. Work is performed sitting, standing, stooping, climbing, bending or crouching and may require lifting of objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds. Employee is exposed to dirt, dust, and noise.
A degree from an accredited college or university in landscape architecture, arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, forestry, agriculture or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required; a technical degree and two years of experience in a related field may substitute for a four year degree. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license is required.
