Our busy firm is seeking an experienced land surveyor to measure, inspect, and document property boundaries. We’re looking for someone with 2 or more years of survey experience who can advise clients, engineers, and project managers of any potential issues within their boundary lines. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp on the methods, principles, and practice of surveying.
Compensation:
$20 - $25 hourly
Responsibilities:-
Utilize surveying instruments such as total stations, builder’s levels, robotics, and GPS (global positioning systems) to measure distances accurately
- Check as-built conditions, stake out clearing boundaries and reference points on site, and complete layout work
- Analyze land boundaries and property lines by researching previous land titles, legal descriptions, land records, survey records, and other documentation
- Inspect the site to gather information and precise measurements on topographic, geographic, and hydrographic features
- Develop detailed design documentation by working closely with civil engineers, cartographers, and project managers
- Download and process field data files

Perform deed research

Prepare deed mosaics

Perform traverse adjustments utilizing industry-acceptable methods

Perform subdivision road right-of-way and lot computations

Prepare subdivision and easement plats for private and public clients

Perform other surveying tasks as needed
Qualifications:-
Knowledge of fundamentals of surveying, trigonometry, mapmaking, and the methods, principles, and practice of surveying
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, building or land surveying technology, cartography, or a related field is required
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills
- 2 years of experience as a construction surveyor, land surveyor, or cartographer is needed
- Requires high school diploma and strong math skills including Geometry and Trigonometry

Current understanding of surveying fundamentals and techniques

CST Certification and/or a 2-year degree with a minimum of 3 years of prior experience in Land Surveying is preferred

Ability to read site plans
