Position Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the assigned section.  They plan, organize, and direct the activities of the technical and non-technical personnel to provide optimal, cost-effective delivery of services according to department standards of quality, productivity and performance.  Serves as a resource to identify, investigate, resolve and monitor concerns when they are identified.  The laboratory supervisor acts as a liaison for all levels of staff.  They collaborate with managers to assure uninterrupted workflow.    They also understand and comply with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Education          

• Medical Laboratory Technologist with a Bachelors Degree or higher

Experience         

• Five years laboratory experience with in depth knowledge of laboratory operations

License/Registration/Certifications         

• Certification by an acceptable laboratory registry as a MLT II, MT, or MLS

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Education      

• N/A

Preferred Experience    

• Experience working off shift in a large hospital laboratory setting and prefer previous supervisory experience

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications     

• ASCP

• Must be able to work irregular and flexible hours.  Must be able to work one week per month on third shift.
• Must be able to perform technical over site and testing in the highly infectious disease lab.
• Must be trained and maintain competency on limited procedures in the Highly Infectious Disease Testing.
