Laboratory Services Director manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Services Director plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Services Director orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Laboratory Services Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.
