Laboratory Services Director manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Services Director plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Services Director orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Laboratory Services Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for oversight, supervision, administration of all STHS System Laboratories and laboratory activities in accordance with established hospital and laboratory policies and procedures. Oversees and supervises the staff associated with this organization. Is responsible for ensuring that the System Laboratories comply with all accrediting agency requirements. Develops and maintains strategic, financial, and marketing plans for the Laboratory. Directs allocation of resources, oversees laboratory billing and procurement of revenue. Sets up contracts with other laboratories. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.


    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Registered MT such as MT(ASCP) with at least 5 years of Clinical Laboratory supervisory experience.

    2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

    EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

    1. Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related science.

    2. Registered Medical Technologist, Certified by National registry such as MT(ASCP) or CLS(NCA) required.

    3. Masters Degree in Business or Laboratory Management preferred.

    4. Must be able, have ability and transportation to travel between facilities as needed.
