Laboratory Manager jobs in Georgia
Laboratory Manager manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Manager plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Overview:
- The Lab Manager would be responsible for key operational activities needed to support the team of scientists working in the lab.
- Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Pay Rate: $26.84/Hour
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the efficient and effective operation of the laboratory and associated equipment, software
- Ensure that the laboratory meets all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety regulations for handling and disposing of reagents/samples
- Ensure all equipment calibrated, operational and coordinate with Site Technical Operations to organize equipment repairs and maintenance
- Train employees on the use of lab equipment and procedures
- Coordinate the work of laboratory technicians and scientists, as it relates to scheduling lab and equipment use
- Plan and oversee the laboratory's budget, including purchases of equipment, software and supplies
- Coordinate and organize shipment of reagents/samples within the US and outside the US as needed
- Monitor and control inventory levels of supplies and materials needed for the operation of the laboratory
- Prepare reports on the activities of the laboratory as required by management or regulatory agencies
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field of research and incorporate them into the lab's operations as appropriate
- 2-3 years of experience in laboratory management and/or operational experience in related field
- Minim of a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences (Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Immunology)
- Master's Degree preferred
