Laboratory Manager manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Manager plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Medical Laboratory Scientist: For MT/MLS a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related field. MT/MLS, college or university in a Medical Laboratory. Documentation of education must satisfy current federal, state or accreditation regulations relating to the classification of Medical Technologist. Must have knowledge of laboratory medicine and basic laboratory instrumentation, hospital and laboratory regulations, policies and procedures. Minimum of one year experience in all areas of a Clinical Laboratory setting. Documented completion of internship in a nationally accredited school of Medical Technology may be substituted for the required one year experience. Must have a certificate (ASCP, AMT) of MT or MLS registration from a nationally recognized organization of laboratory medicine.
