Laboratory Courier picks up and delivers medical specimens and packages for a laboratory. Ensures timely, safe, and accurate delivery. Being a Laboratory Courier is responsible for maintenance and care of vehicle. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Laboratory Courier must be licensed to operate a vehicle. Licensing requirements depend on the state. Must have a "satisfactory" driving record. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Laboratory Courier may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. POSITION SUMMARY:
Operates a company motor vehicle to conduct courier tasks on a regularly scheduled basis for STHS Laboratories and Clinics. Maintains vehicle appearance and servicing. May make small adjustments or repairs. May make extended trips requiring irregular hours. Conveys mail, reports, documents, parcels, parts, human blood and other body fluids, medical laboratory specimens, furniture, supplies and equipment to designated locations. Documents travel and vehicle maintenance information in logs. Frequently unloads and loads cargo. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A valid Texas Driver’s License; safe driving skills; the ability to safely operate company vehicles with manual or automatic transmissions.
2. Typical incumbent has basic knowledge of Universal Precautions and Aseptic Technique.
3. Ability to work independently (self-starter), quickly, accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines, heavy workloads and in the presence of customers while producing desired results.
4. Excellent customer service skills
5. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
o High School diploma, GED, or Higher Educaion required. Basic computer skills preferred.
