Laboratory Assistant jobs in Vermont
Laboratory Assistant performs research activities in a laboratory environment to aid in the planning, designing, and conducting of experiments. Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. EXPECTED HOURS/SHIFT: Full-Time (80 hours bi-weekly), hours are variable, but generally evenings, includes up to two weekends per month.
COMPENSATION: starts at $17.00 /hour commensurate with experience shift differentials.
JOB SUMMARY:

The Lab Assistant I performs three roles in the function of the Laboratory: 1) Lab customer service and charge entry, 2) phlebotomy and specimen collection, 3) order entry/specimen processing. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, fire, disaster plans, and infection control
PREREQUISITES-
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: Clerical experience in medical setting, knowledge of medical terminology, and phlebotomy experience preferred.
Other: The Lab Assistant must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. -
Certifications: BLS required
