Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for accessioning, specimen processing, clerical and customer service duties in the Clinical Laboratory following established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. What you will do in this role:

• You will provide phlebotomy to patients of all populations and age groups
• You will assist in the technical and clerical aspects of the Laboratory department
• You will be responsible for specific departmental duties including specimen preparation, delivery and accession
• You will be responsible for daily workload assistance including recordkeeping, inventory control, preventive maintenance and quality control
• You will practice infection control by hand washing, wearing personal protective equipment, for the protection of patient and self and maintain a well-kept work area

What qualifications you may need:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• A Phlebotomy certificate is preferred
• 1 year of hospital Laboratory experience is preferred

• Medical terminology is preferred
