  • Job Purpose:

    Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of oilfield production and process equipment. Inspect, analyze, and perform corrective maintenance actions and repairs. The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

    Essential Job Functions:

    ·       Under limited to no supervision, works on tasks that are complex in nature.

    ·       Installs and tests pipe, fittings, tubing, valves, and instruments according to P&ID(s), instrument location drawings, installation details, vendor data and specifications.

    ·       Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site.

    ·       Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.

    ·       Performs both complex installations and maintenance tasks.

    ·       Frequently responsible for performing independent analysis of maintenance problems and implementation of corrective actions.

    ·       Exercises a significant amount of independent action, seeking advice from other technicians or engineers when deviations from the norm occur and where advanced levels of creativity are needed.

    ·       Provides work leadership to lower-level technicians and/or is considered a lead worker.

    ·       Expected to perform all duties in accordance with company and site safety standards.

    ·       Any other related duty as assigned or requested.

     

     Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    ·       Safety procedures/requirements that apply to the use of equipment/tools used on oilfield production or industrial setting.

    ·       Knowledge of various facilities and drill sites across the North Slope.

    ·       Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

    ·       Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

    ·       Communicate information and ideas in speaking do others will understand.

    ·       Provide direction/mentoring to lower-level technicians.

    ·       Perform basic instrumentation and calibration work.

    ·       Determine the kind/use of tools and equipment needed to do the job.

    ·       Basic understanding and knowledge of the functional purpose of the various components of an instrument loop such as transmitters, I/P converters, orifice plates flow nozzles and level indicators

    ·       Ability to properly use and care for the tools and equipment commonly used on an industrial project such as threading machines and bandsaws.

    ·       Ability in measuring, cutting, threading, bending, installing.

    ·       Understand formulas for cutting and bending tubing.

    ·       Conduct Hydro/Pneumatic testing of tubing and piping fittings from vacuum to high pressures to exceed 5,000 psi.

     

     

    Physical Demand/Work Environment:


    Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:
     

    ·       Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

    ·       Standing for prolonged periods of time.

    ·       Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

    ·       Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

    ·       Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

    ·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

    ·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

    ·       Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

    ·       Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

    ·       Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

    ·       Minimum of four (4) years instrument fitter experience.

    ·       One (1) year of Alaska North Slope craft experience.

    ·       High school Diploma or equivalent GED.

    ·       Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Worley's auto insurer.

    ·       North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training, if needed.
