Third Way is seeking a highly-motivated and experienced person to be the Executive Assistant for Third Way’s President. This individual will use their interest in politics to provide administrative support by maintaining the calendar schedule, travel plans, and board activity. The Executive Assistant works closely with the Senior Director of Business Operations and Chief Financial Officer to process expenses, track donations and manage corporate governance.
As the Executive Assistant, a typical day might include…
- Manage the President’s daily business by scheduling internal and external meetings
- Track deliverables and coordinate with colleagues to meet deadlines related to meetings, events, materials, and fundraising activities involving the President
- Keep the President informed of and prepared for upcoming commitments and regularly remind him of calendar obligations and upcoming tasks
- Plan and serve as a key point of contact to coordinate schedules and logistics for board meetings, management committee meetings, all-staff meetings, and investment committee meetings
- Represent the President by welcoming visitors, screening and reviewing correspondence, and addressing questions and meeting requests directed to the President
- Coordinate business and personal travel arrangements, including booking transportation and lodging, and provide pre-travel logistical briefing materials
- Manage the President’s contacts in Outlook and Salesforce, ensuring everything is up to date
- Draft, proofread, and/or edit a wide range of internal and external communications, reports, talking points, and presentations
- Track, monitor, and reconcile monthly expenses and reimbursements
- Monitor communications with Third Way’s Board of Trustees and serve as a key point of contact for Trustees and their offices
- Serve as the primary contact for Third Way Trustees about board meetings by sending reminders, logistical communications, and calendar invites, as well as tracking RSVPs and final attendance in Salesforce
- Finalize all materials for board meetings, including PowerPoints and folders for attendees
- Assist the Senior Manager of Events with the day-of board meeting execution
- Draft correspondence and support the execution of all communications with Trustees, including invitations and documents required for corporate governance

- A degree in Communications, Business, or a related field
- Experience working with a board or c-suite level executives
- Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to manage numerous requests/deliverables simultaneously
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and judgment under stress and deadlines; ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, as well as strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills and unimpeachable professionalism in dealing with both internal and external contacts
- Ability to thrive working under short deadlines and deliver in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple projects with competing priorities and various stakeholders
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills

- Participate in Third Way’s comprehensive onboarding program. You’ll learn about all aspects of Business Operations, which includes Human Resources, Learning and Development, IT, Finance, and Office Operations.
- Meet your Third Way Buddy, be introduced to the entire staff, and start to learn the TW’s culture.
- Learn our current processes for payroll, compliance, and labor tracking, and how you will partner with Finance and the rest of the Business Operations team on these processes.
- Participate in weekly one-on-ones with your manager to ensure you fully understand the expectations of the job.
- Attend your departmental weekly meetings. You’ll learn about the key goals of your program, how they’re doing, what challenges they face, and how you will contribute.
WITHIN 2 MONTHS, YOU'LL...
- Gain an understanding of each employee’s role and their contribution to the organization.
- Sit in on a riveting story about Third Way’s history with one of the original founders of Third Way. You will learn about our successes, as well as our failures. This will also afore you the opportunity to learn about future direction.
- Incorporate TW’s Style Guide and Production process into your work products.
- Participate in, at least, one of our internal Professional Development trainings or a Center for Fun activity.

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU'LL…
- Feel a sense of comfort and familiarity with the staff, your team, and your work.
- Continue to attend weekly departmental meetings with a stronger understanding of your team’s strategic goal.
- Bring new ideas and suggestions to your weekly one-on-ones with your manager.
- Attend and participate in external functions with other members of your team.
- Complete your 90-day self-evaluation and performance review with your manager.
- Partner with your manager to establish your long-term goals for the remainder of the year.
