Jig and Fixture Builder assembles a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures and related tooling. Ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Being a Jig and Fixture Builder is responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. Designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Additionally, Jig and Fixture Builder may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures. Requires a high school diploma in a related area with certification in the field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Fixture Builder is responsible for building all new wooden retail display fixtures and repairing damaged fixtures. This position is responsible for quality craftsmanship and the timely completion of all projects. Additional responsibilities include: Stage and prepare fixtures for golf events, performing plant maintenance when involving construction. Ability to travel as needed; anticipated 4 times per year; including some weekends and for an extended duration. Travel can include trade shows and sales meetings including set up and working these events. Occasionally responsible to oversee other employees when management is away.
Marginal Job Functions: PGA Show set up, Pro Shop installs and assist Finisher(s) when schedule deems necessary.
Minimum of 3 years in carpentry/woodworking industry and experience running woodworking machinery required.
Skills/Qualifications: Ability to build from sketches/blueprints. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Must possess initiative, energy, and drive. Excellent verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain a safe work environment, and must understand Woodworking Shop safety.
Ability to use the following tools and machinery: Table Saw, Edge Bander, Panel Saw, Drill/Driver, Sanders, Hand Tools, Drill Press, Band Saw, Router, Jig Saw, Shaper, Air Nailer, Spray Gun.
The job requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, sometimes required to sit. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, touch, pinch, or grasp, and frequently required to reach above shoulders, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl. Frequently required to lift or move up to 100 pounds and sometimes required to lift or move more than 100 pounds. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
Vision Requirements: Close and distance vision. Color and Peripheral vision and depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.
