We are now hiring a skilled, detail-oriented, creative Bench Jeweler. Day's has full-service jewelry repair shops in each of our eight locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Our Jewelers are passionate about beautiful and timeless jewelry. We provide our Jewelers with the highest standards of technology, education, equipment, and a comfortable, safe work environment. Job Description:

The Bench Jeweler performs a wide range of tasks in jewelry repair, crafting, and design, as well as operating and maintaining their own shop. They provide expert guidance to the Day’s customers and the Day’s staff members. Tasks are always done with the customer’s best interest in mind. 

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform the needed repairs to each customer’s order as instructed.
• Understand and maintain proper and efficient levels of the shop and minor repair supplies (gemstones,      metals, tools, safety equipment, etc.) as needed to complete jobs and maintain a full-service shop.
• Provide ongoing guidance and training to store personnel on how to properly accept jewelry repairs. 
• Provide support to the service team through careful expense control and promoting service sales.
• Maintain and use all bench tools and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
• Maintain neatly organized bench tools and equipment.
• Ensure all safety and environmental protocols are followed.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 1 year working independently on jewelry repair is preferred. (Qualifications must be demonstrated by performing a bench test that includes ring sizing, stone setting, gold solder repair, etc.)
• Sizing rings, up and down, working with all precious metals including Platinum, Gold, White Gold, and Silver.
• Basic stone setting and stone tightening skills.
• Soldering knowledge and ability to work with all metal types and solder flow temperatures.
• Cares about people and enjoys creating relationships.
• Driven to deliver a customer experience that exceeds their expectations.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to learn and apply a variety of policies and procedures.
• Able to work weekends and nights.

Approximate Salary range, including a competitive incentive plan: $45,000-$75,000 per year (compensation flexible based on experience)
