This role leads other developers in the understanding and implementation of line-of-business applications. Candidates must be a role model of good coding practices, automated unit testing, and interaction with the business. This position is equally responsible for building relationships, mentoring team members, and coding. Candidates will provide tier 2 support for production and coding issues, design applications, and help translate technical requirements accurately.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Position Responsibilities:
Write, test, document, debug, and maintain computer programs.
Execute specifications as detailed by other team members and project stakeholders.
Lead requirements elicitation and ideation efforts.
Design applications that will implement specifications using modern coding techniques.
Use of modular design and coding such as microservices, object-oriented programming principles, and API design.
Expert level knowledge with at least one application framework and programming language.
Write senior-level code. Mentor less experienced developers to maintain code integrity.
Troubleshoot application program malfunctions.
Estimate task effort and build work breakdowns of tasks.
Mentor team to write automated unit test suites for all code.
Follow established practices for project tracking and code quality.
Conduct demonstrations of code for team members and stakeholders.
Provide advanced production support whenever needed.
Advanced use of a version control system.
Champion secure coding practices.
Mentor team to create robust build and deploy pipeline groups for Ops to execute.
Drive solutions with impactful business outcomes.
Build productive relationships with stakeholders and the business.
Provide project management, scrum management and leadership.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
At least one of the following:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school, preferably in a computer or technical related field, and substantial object-oriented programming experience.
Associate degree from an accredited school, preferably in a computer or technical related field, and extensive object-oriented programming experience.
Insurance industry experience preferred.
