    The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining proper cost controls and inventory control policies and procedures across the 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) network for finished goods. This includes temperature-controlled and ambient temperature operations across the domestic US. The inventory control manager has budgetary responsibility for inventory and service costs across all 3PL warehousing/ distribution operations. This includes the responsibility to ensure accurate representation and reconciliation between inventories within the LAG Inventory Management system and the 3PL systems.


    This role is responsible for all aspects of Inventory Control, including physical inventories, cycle counting programs, 3PL reporting on inventories and services, 3PL contract administration, cost allocations, and relationship management with 3PL’s. They will identify opportunities for improvement in cost and service management across all 3PL service providers. Develops and implements policies and procedures to support company objectives and the functional infrastructure across the 3PL Network.

    Key responsibilities for this position include:


    • Implements and manages inventory control policies and procedures as determined by Logistics and corporate management
    • Implements and assures adherence to Standard Operating Procedures related to Inventory control across all 3PL warehouse operations.
    • Provides subject matter expertise in researching and resolving inventory discrepancies between physical inventories observed in any operation in the Distribution Network and the associated system records/transactions.
    • Analyzes and reports inventory financial results and variance analysis to Logistics/Corporate management on a timely basis, providing data critical to the management decision-making process.
    • Manages and executes processes and system transactions related to inventories on hold within the inventory management system at 3PL operations
    • Works with Logistics management and staff to both identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement in internal processes, and operational and financial results.
    • Leads periodic physical inventories that are conducted at 3PL warehouse operations. Utilizes Logistics department colleagues when necessary to conduct the periodic physical inventories.
    • Leads operational startup and shut-down of 3PL operations.
    • Assists in the coordination of inventory transfers between DCs and 3PL operations, with Supply Chain Planning, DC Operations, Transportation, Carriers, and 3PL’s.
    • Publish Key Performance Indicator results, and recommend areas of improvement to achieve KPI targets
    • Travel and/or extended or off work, on-call hours may be required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide indirect supervisory responsibility for inventory control staff at 3PL operations. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; deploying procedures, addressing complaints and resolving problems. This role provides guidance and mentorship to employees and takes responsibility for overall financial and operational performance related to inventories at 3PL operations.

    Education

    • Associate's degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required


    Experience

    • 4 - 8 years related experience in a supervisory position, preferably with experience in Warehousing, Distribution, Inventory Control, or related field
    • Relationship management experience with external service providers or vendors.

    Specialized Knowledge

    • Should have knowledge base of warehouse management/inventory control systems and processes
    • Working knowledge of MS Excel, and aptitude for learning computer applications
    • A demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and fluency in data integration across applications is beneficial

    Skills/Abilities

    • Strong attention to detail; demonstrated ability to use system transactions and documents to conduct research.
    • Demonstrated experience in utilizing, developing, and/or implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures
    • Aptitude for data-based, factual research for variance resolution
    • Excellent, well-rounded communicators with good people skills, adept at working with others to achieve a common objective.
    • Data analysis –able to evaluate invoices for services at 3PL operations against rate/price/contract documents, and disposition invoice detail for acceptance or rejection. Provide variance analysis on rate and volume vs invoiced cost
