Summary/Objective
The purchasing agent will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the company. Maintains purchasing office and inventory in a clean and orderly manner. Supervises Lab Technician.
Essential Functions

1. Establishes purchasing policies and ensure compliance.
2. Carries out warehouse and inventory control procedures.
3. Uses knowledge of material work planning and methods engineering processes and procedures to coordinate product deliveries.
4. Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
5. Uses knowledge of machines and equipment to schedule items necessary to continual production cycles-
6. Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
7. Examines bids and makes awards.
8. Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers.
9. Ensures proper supplies arrive.
10. Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
11. Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with U.S. laws.
12. Reviews vendor invoices for items received and charges out to department codes.
13. Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
14. Supervises Lab Technician assuring proper testing procedures are followed and required supporting test documents are accurately completed.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages employee(s) of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employee(s) within that department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing office environment/supply room. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In the supply room, this role routinely uses hydraulic hand trucks and ladders.

The employee is required to sit; walk; stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during business day.
Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma.
2. Minimum of 3 years of purchasing related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
