Interventional Radiological Technologist assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being an Interventional Radiological Technologist observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of experience in radiology and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additionally, Interventional Radiological Technologist typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Interventional Radiological Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Medical terminology, billing and medical office customer service experience required.
Some job duties include:
1. Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
2. Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
3. Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
4. Evaluates patient’s financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
5. Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the Billing Supervisor, also prepares information for the collection agency.
6. Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
7. Processes payments from insurance companies and prepares a daily deposit.
8. Participates in educational activities and attends monthly staff meetings.
9. Conducts self in accordance with employee manual.
10. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2 years healthcare experience.
