International Trade Specialist is responsible for coordinating credit and financial activities and obtaining payments for import/export operations. Acts as an advisor on matters of tariffs, markets, and federal and foreign regulations. Being an International Trade Specialist ensures that all filings, documents, and regulatory reporting are completed accurately, in a timely manner, and according to trade laws. Keeps informed of international events and changes to laws and requirements that may impact operations. Additionally, International Trade Specialist may negotiate letters of credit or handle issues with international banks. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The International Trade Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. SUMMARY:
This position coordinates domestic and international day to day logistics operations for TOC Logistics International clients and worldwide agents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists and monitors logistics operations for domestic, ocean and air cargo movements.
Independently handles all aspects of domestic import and export shipments by air or ocean including customs.
Tracks shipments and ensures that shipping instructions have been followed.
Constantly interact with parties involved on shipment by telephone and email, and provide accurate and detailed reports to customer on status and exceptions.
Assists with training other team members.
Supports Transportation Management systems functionality and training.
Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
Provide detailed and accurate support to Accounts Receivable for billing.
Constantly seek for high-level performance from vendors.
Adhere and maintain precise records of milestones within existing process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience with an established forwarder or manufacturer with preferable experience in shipping internationally.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bi-lingual is a plus (Spanish).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Strong math and analytical skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
