Our client is looking for an energetic and career-driven professional looking for an opportunity to join their team as a Consumer and Indirect Lending Manager, responsible for organizing, planning and directing the credit unions functions relating to the Consumer Lending and Indirect Lending for the credit union to establish goals.

The Consumer and Indirect lending manager directs the activities of loan originators and processors. Supervision of the loan portfolio operations, pipeline management, keeps informed of market conditions, maintains corporate records and reports concerning loan production and reports loan production to the management each month, and participates in staff meetings and any other required meetings deemed necessary.

This position will be a hybrid role, but individual must be willing to work onsite regularly during the training phase in Baton Rouge, LA (up to approximately 6 months). Following this initial phase, the position will require 2-3 days onsite, with the remainder being remote. Must live in or near Baton Rouge, LA

What you will do:

• Manage department staff of 10 employees (team has exceptional tenure and retention rates) to include setting schedules, approving leave time, reviewing performance annually, recruiting internal applicants, counseling, and disciplining.
• Meets or exceeds all service and sales expectations.
• Possess adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge certification assessment.
• Work closely with members and applicants in person and over the phone and provide assistance to branch staff and co-workers: provide member service, counsel & pre-qualify loan applicants, and assist branch staff & co-workers in areas of consumer and indirect lending.
• Oversee the consumer lending process in its entirety including but not limited to the loan origination process, underwriting, processing, file maintenance, and processes that flow into other departments.
• Ensure that all loan files contain all necessary documents for compliance with NCUA rules and regulations, and confirm the accuracy of document data.
• Formulate and maintain a loan procedure manual for the consumer and indirect loan department that is up-to-date with all regulations and requirements. Ensure staff training and compliance.
• Implement lending policies and procedures that protect the credit union and members’ best interests. Either directly or through subordinates, oversee the indirect lending program and all of its operations.
• Assist the collections department with the as-needed when a loan originated through the department goes into default.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union’s consumer and indirect lending department. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively.
• Review loan underwriting for soundness of decisions.
• Monitor rates and pricing for consumer loans to ensure competitiveness with the marketplace. Monitor the marketplace for changes in the industry or changing trends. Report the finding to management.
• Oversee efforts required to develop and establish internal and external programs and relations with dealerships and others for loan production.
• Track performance and productivity for each section of the consumer lending process.
• Supervise the budget for the department that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and budget of the credit union.
• Complete monthly reports for management using procedures and reporting tools to gather information as it flows through the department.
• Understands compliance issues and attend training as they relate to consumer loans.
• Understands compliance issues and attends training as they relate to credit union services including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act, Reg P, and Patriot Act

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience leading sizable teams with strong leadership skills
• Credit union experience is a strong plus
• Advanced in Microsoft Excel
