International Controller directs and develops the organization's international accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Ensures the preparation and analysis of all financial reports meet the needs of the organization and comply with all applicable regulations. Being an International Controller maintains an in-depth, and up to date knowledge and understanding of both US and international accounting principles. Advises management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices that may impact international operations and reporting. Additionally, International Controller requires a bachelor's degree of accounting or finance. Typically reports to a CFO or top management. Typically requires CPA. The International Controller manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an International Controller typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     SUMMARY

    The Controller assists in compiling the financial reporting of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for helping to formulate the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and planning and monitoring the profitability of the resort. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

    • Responsible for the formulation of resort accounting policies & procedures, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports as required.
    • Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and ensuring proper inclusion under company insurance policies.
    • Responsible for the reconciliation and monthly close of resort trial balance accounts and preparation of monthly variance reports.
    • Responsible for treasury function, cash handling procedures and related internal controls.
    • Assists in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, and analyzes and reports variances.
    • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
    • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
    • Acts within scope of authority to implement company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices.
    • Oversees the completion of annual financial statements and coordinates with external audit firm.
    • As required, ensures that company is in full compliance of all tax reporting requirements, (1099, issuance, sales taxes, payroll taxes, etc.)
    • Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise (DOL, VT taxation, other).
    • Assists the Director of Finance with the supervision, training and management of the Accounting Managers, Accounting Supervisors, and other Accounting Department personnel.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Finance or CFO.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Directly supervises 3 managers, and 8 staff within the Accounting department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university; five to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts in support of financial reporting capacities.

    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    COMPUTER SKILLS
    Applicant must have experience in Oracle Netsuite.  Prior experience with ADP is preferred.  Familiarity with MS Teams is preferred.  General proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, internet access and E-mail.
