SUMMARY:

Merlin is seeking an accomplished and dynamic Controller to become an integral part of our team and provide leadership in all areas of accounting. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and working in close collaboration with the Director of Finance, you and the team you manage will be responsible for significant accounting operations including the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and implementation of a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with GAAP and financial reporting standards.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and oversee accounting policies and associated systems and procedures
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and statements
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Maintain the general ledger and keep books and records on company transactions and assets
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance
• Assist with treasury operations and cash controls
• Ensure accuracy of accounting and control of business processes
• Establish, coordinate, and administer plan for control of operations including programs for investing and financing, together with necessary controls and procedures to effect the plan
• Compare performance against operating plans and standards; report and interpret results to all levels of management
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
• Serve as a liaison between the Company and independent public accountants
• Provide information to external auditors for annual audits and provide other support as needed

• Prepare operating data and special reports as needed
• Provide relevant advice and inputs to the Chief Financial Officer and other executives
• Assist with the preparation of various reports to external governmental and commercial parties in relation to the Company’s sales and compliance activities
• Manage and develop a team of several accountants
• Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
• Controller or other significant accounting leadership experience
• Minimum of 8 years’ accounting experience
• Experience preparing consolidated financials among affiliates is a plus
• Relevant industry experience is a significant plus
