International Compliance Manager plans and directs the corporation's comprehensive ethics, business conduct and compliance activities for all international operations under senior management direction. Directs the development and implementation of processes, procedures and systems to meet the entities' compliance activities and reporting requirements. Being an International Compliance Manager oversees the organization's compliance risk management program to assess, prioritize and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks based on the standards of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines as related to the international operating units. Consults with and provides guidance and direction to the international operating company's senior executive in all aspects of the entity's ethics, business conduct and compliance program. Additionally, International Compliance Manager requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The International Compliance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Education and Qualifications Technical Knowledge/Training of OSHA, DOT, Safety and Hazardous Materials regulations, 5 years of experience in the motor fleet safety field. Safety, training, 4-year college degree, 5 years CMV enforcement, and/or compliance related experience can be substituted.


    Mission for Safety and Compliance Manager

    The mission for this role is to develop and lead a comprehensive safety, compliance, and risk management program for our trucking operation. The safety and compliance manager oversees several operations across the company and establishes a regular review and audit process to verify that all contributors are implementing safety and relating policies as designed and intended. This role should be ready to jump in and supervise direct reports and processes from Day 1.

    Responsibilities

    Oversee the development and implementation of safety programs specific to the FMCSA's Compliance, Safety and Accountability Program (CSA) to ensure company's good standing as a motor carrier. This also includes properly contest (DataQ) violations that may have been made in error to hold the integrity of the company's CSA BASIC scores. Responsible for developing and promoting a comprehensive safety program.

    Ensure training standards and regulations are being met to include conducting face to face training and coaching sessions with employee's. Coaching and training is documented in employee file.

    Provide leadership, guidance and program development in the interpretation and application of safety best practices as they pertain to the company's trucking operations.

    Acts in an advisory capacity (to Management Team and Drivers) on all matters pertaining to safety. Responsible for formulating and implementing general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company trucking and facility operations to achieve best in class performance and compliance with the FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and related local and state rules and regulations.

    Ensures effective implementation of the company’s safety policies and procedures. Establishes a regular review and audit process to verify that operations across the company – division operations, fleet management, orientation and driver development, the driver employment center, and maintenance operations are implementing safety and related policies as designed and intended.

    Conducts accident investigations, reviews, and root cause analysis. Determines preventability. Reports findings and determinations to Management during Daily Standup and/or Department Meeting. Reports findings and determinations to business leaders through a regular and routine reporting process.

    Manages the accident review committee process.

    Performs statistical analysis of accidents and workplace injuries. Identifies, trends, relationships and potential causal factors. Implements a process for regular reporting to business leaders of findings and results.

    Conduct on-site work place inspections audits for compliance with company policy and corresponding OSHA and related standards. Ensures immediate resolution of hazards. Implements fixes and solutions for sustained resolution and results, after submitting proposal along with budget for approval.

    Devises, supervises, and coordinates safety training programs or media that will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety awareness.

    Prepares reviews, approves, and submits safety reports and/or material and/or evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.

    Manages the day to day operations of the safety department. Creates a positive work environment and culture within the department, provides clear objectives and performance expectations for staff, conducts training, and career development.

    Maintain a network of internal and external contacts to regularly benchmark and remain current on future trends and developments related to government standards, industry practices, legislation, guidelines, new technologies and programs related to safety program requirements

    Works closely with the business line and support function leaders as a business operations consultant to guide them to procedure, process and system changes to improve safety behavior performance and related regulatory compliance.

    Conducts periodic call reviews to asses fleet manager performance with safety related conversations.

    Provides coaching and feedback to individual managers to help them improve their safety discussions with employees they manage.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a simple and concise manner.

    Strong analytical know-how, to include gathering data and preparing reports. Must be detailed oriented with a tenacious focus on results.

    Ability to investigate and analyze information in order to draw conclusions.

    Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and professionalism.

    Expert in Accident Investigation and Analysis : understanding the various stakeholders in an accident and nurturing the process to close.
