International Compliance Manager plans and directs the corporation's comprehensive ethics, business conduct and compliance activities for all international operations under senior management direction. Directs the development and implementation of processes, procedures and systems to meet the entities' compliance activities and reporting requirements. Being an International Compliance Manager oversees the organization's compliance risk management program to assess, prioritize and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks based on the standards of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines as related to the international operating units. Consults with and provides guidance and direction to the international operating company's senior executive in all aspects of the entity's ethics, business conduct and compliance program. Additionally, International Compliance Manager requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The International Compliance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an International Compliance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Are you looking for an instrumental role within the GSK North American Trade Compliance team. The role is responsible for activities in respect to trade compliance regulations and the GSK supply chain.

    This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

    • To work with Logistics compliance managers for the set-up and maintenance of the essential master data repositories for all the risk assessed GSK items, trade routes and third parties to enable change impact analysis.

    • To effectively maintain the master lists, KPIs and contents across all trade compliance repositories against the GSK audit trail standards, enabling agile trade route & regulation change implication & impact analysis.

    • To automate analyzing & reporting processes, ensuring continuous improvement in productivity & effectiveness.

    • To coordinate across trade compliance managers and customers of Pharma and Vaccines sites, warehouses, External Supply, Pharma Logistics and relevant project teams in organizing data, information and training & communication events, maximizing synergy and productivity, supporting risk assessment activities such as communicating with customers on the assessment results and follow-up on mitigation plans.

    • To support key departmental, functional and enterprise-wide initiatives impacting GSK or Pharma Supply Chain trade compliance risk & controls, with a focus on data & information management.

    • Technical resource to business units by answering questions and suggesting new and creative ideas.

    • Manage Customs Broker Performance in the USA and Canada.

    • Maintenance of C-TPAT certification.

    • Manage compliance management processes such as management of USDA license and permit renewals. (Decipher whether a permit or guideline statement is needed), management of IFE (import for export) responses to FDA, Determine Free Trade Agreement Eligibility & Document. Creation, TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Act) Declaration Letters {possibly LCC, multiple LSP's) or other processes as required.

    • Operate Performance Management process (hold analysis, trend analysis, root cause, & corrective actions) & provide presentation material for input into Governance meetings.

    • Manage compliance group mailbox responding to compliance requests from internal and external stakeholders.

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent course work in the areas of supply chain management, compliance / audit, international trade, or international business law.

    • 2 years' experience in pharmaceutical industry or business consulting, with project level risk assessment, documentation and evaluation of internal controls, including flow narratives or monitoring / auditing work papers

    • 2 years' experience working with customs brokers and government agencies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

    • Specialist / Professional qualifications in supply chain.

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

    • Knowledge in supply chain management with a focus on international trade.

    • Knowledge of International Trade processes.

    • Additional languages spoken.

    • Demonstrated strong analytical ability to form conclusions based on facts and data

    • Preferred experience in automating data analysis and database set-up and maintenance

    • Demonstrated ability in interacting with various levels from staff to management, preferably in multi-national matrix organizations.

    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple assignments.

    • Excellent skill in MS-Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Knowledgeable of US and Canadian Customs regulations.

    • Self-starter.

    • Demonstrated ability to function effectively across multiple culture and geographic boundaries.

    • Demonstrated ability in driving improvements and performance focusing on customer service levels and optimizing productivity.

    • Key soft skills: Intellectual curiosity and a strong work ethic characterized by high integrity and professionalism; empathy, taking initiative, resilience in managing ambiguity and work under pressure.

    • Customs Brokers License preferred.
