Internal Auditor jobs in Louisiana

The Audit Services Division of the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS) is currently hiring for an internal auditor. This position offers a great opportunity in the Baton Rouge area.

We are looking for a candidate that is highly motivated, professional, a quick learner and adaptable. This position interacts with all levels of management and must possess strong communication skills (written and oral). The candidate must be detail-oriented, possess the ability to solve problems, and be willing to pursue professional certifications that pertain to the position. The candidate must also be a self-starter and display critical thinking when conducting reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities for this position include internal auditing duties, such as:

• Performing risk assessments.
• Planning, leading, and executing reviews conducted by LASERS Internal Audit Division (which may include specialized areas of Information Technology and Investments).
• Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Preparing work papers to document work performed and to support the conclusions reached.
• Preparing reports to effectively communicate the results of reviews.
• Managing time and resources to achieve deadlines for multiple projects and related assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Fiscal Option: A baccalaureate degree with nine semester hours in accounting and an additional fifteen semester hours in any one or combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems.

General option: A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems.

Substitutions:

A certified public accountant (CPA) certificate, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation will substitute for the baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours of the required coursework.

A baccalaureate degree plus a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) designation will substitute for the twenty-four semester hours of required coursework.

A master's degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, public administration, or information systems and decision sciences will substitute for the twenty-four semester hours of required coursework.

Note: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
