Job Summary:
The Interior Designer is responsible for design development and project leadership. The Interior Designer will work with account managers and clients to interpret and produce design specifications and creative solutions, while providing a high level of service and support through communication, coordination, design skill, and follow-through.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with account managers and clients to identify parameters of project. Leads clients through a design discovery process.
- Gathers appropriate information relative to the scope of the project. Interprets information to determine the development and layout appropriate for specific areas, activities, organizational levels, and budget considerations. Executes complete specifications for furnishings and accessories and recommends products for surface materials such as window treatments, wallcovering, floor coverings, and lighting which meet the clients functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
- Develops effective presentation skills and knowledge of business and industry issues that reflect on space planning, design, and management. Responds to client’s needs and communicates design themes and plans through live design, presentations/proposals, floor plans, perspectives, and renderings. Coordinates color schemes and execution of finish schedules. Refines designs based on client’s requests and input.
- Executes floor, furniture, panel plans, and installation drawing using CET software according to department standards. Follows established processes to communicate with internal team.
- Professionally represents the Company with client and third party contracts and maintains a high level of responsiveness to client inquiries. Assists in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
- Provides site inspection, inventory of equipment and furnishings prior to project and executes on site consultations throughout project to check on installation.
- Maintains and continuously improves knowledge of products, client base, technology, design techniques and architectural compliance issues which impact furniture selection and placement.
- Tracks project hours daily. Provides weekly updates to supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational / Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in interior design with a minimum of 2 related years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working in interior design or workplace design preferred; experience working in CAD and CET software a plus.
