Interior Matter is a full-service (and FUN) residential interior design firm covering metro Washington DC and beyond. Our Dupont Circle studio is currently seeking a full-time, experienced, Design Project Manager with a successful track record in high-end design project management.

The role requires the project manager to work well both independently and within our team (Design and Operations). We nurture, collaborate, and have a positive team culture at our firm. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of residential interior design including new construction and renovation, space planning, furnishings, window treatments, and materials. This person must be an excellent communicator, highly organized, focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, extremely flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful management and oversight of projects from start to finish and will be responsible for working with clients, leading consultants and our internal team, overseeing the development of contract documents, adhering to budgets, construction site representation and project closeout as well as overall client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• 4 years of experience in the field of Interior Design
• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture or related field
• Experience managing complex Interior Design Projects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Thorough knowledge of building codes
• Ability to coordinate and review a complete set of contract documents
• Purchasing/Procurement experience
• Excellent project management, organizational, and customer service skills
• Outstanding problem-solving abilities
• Professional, friendly, and polished verbal and written communication with a
• strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred (Sketchup and/or Chief Architect experience is a plus)
• Proficiency in IVY Software is a plus
• Proficiency with Mac is preferred

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with the Principal, design team, and Director of Operations to oversee multiple projects
• Coordinate all aspects of high-end residential projects from initial project kickoff and site survey through post-install photoshoot
• Develop scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and specifications.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding budget, invoices, orders, meetings, and project schedule
• Lead detailed site visits including measurements and assessments
• Communicate with vendors from initial quoting through inspection/delivery. Work closely with vendors to keep projects on schedule and problem solve when issues arise
• Liaison with workrooms to develop custom furniture, millwork, window treatments, etc.
• Work directly with contractors and trades to ensure coordination and implementation of IM design details during construction
• Assist Design team with creating and maintaining detailed finish schedules
• Assist Design team with creating and maintaining detailed project and contractor spec books/binders
• Assist Director of Operations in coordinating installation days with trades, vendors, and clients
• Perform QA/QC for studio's client and vendor deliverables
• Manage all deficiencies resolutions for both construction and furnishings and décor deliverables
• Communicate with trades, vendors and partners throughout the design development phase to design, price, and verify details, drawings, specs, and pricing
• Maintain biweekly update emails to clients
• Create client proposals, invoices, and purchase orders
• Assist Director of Operations with the procurement process – tracking purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, updating clients and trades with ETA’s
• Assist in managing external accountant/bookkeeper
• Assist Principal and Director of Operations with studio management
• Possible assistance with drafting (AutoCAD and Chief Architect)

This is a full-time opportunity with a minimum of 40 hours/week required. Compensation will be based upon qualifications and experience. This position will involve a combination of work in our Dupont Circle studio, project sites, and vendor showrooms.

Please note that our office is on the first floor of a building with no elevators and is only accessible via stairs from the street. Street parking is available but limited. We are proximal to Dupont Metro stop.
