The Intellectual Property Administrator assists the Office of Innovation and Economic Development with the daily administration of technology transfer, commercialization, intellectual property portfolio communications, and industry engagement activities.

The Administrator assists with invention evaluations; assists with tracking contracts, agreements and licenses; facilitates communication with intellectual property attorneys, consultants, company representatives, and inventors as necessary; maintaining and reporting data and financial information; and preparing payments and invoices. Typical hiring range for this position is $33,653 – $55,947 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:

• Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum one year of experience in relevant administrative and organizational roles OR equivalent experience in a research/innovation oriented company.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry clients, outside agencies, visitors, and members of the University faculty, staff, and administration.
• Ability to think creatively about commercialization and partnership opportunities to achieve effective outcomes.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Experience in fiscal matters and accounting.
• Advanced writing skills and computer skills.

Preferred:

• Demonstrated relevant legal and fiscal administration or assistance skills or experience highly desirable - particularly in the intellectual property or legal contracts fields.
• Knowledge of or familiarity with basic research-related activities and new product development.
• Knowledge of Maine-based public and private, business and economic development agencies highly desirable.
• Scientific education, experience, or degree highly desirable.
• Desire to work collaboratively with dynamic people in support of the mission of the department and the University of Maine.
