Intake Coordinator position description: Under the direct supervision of the Administrator/ Director of CTC Services, and in collaboration with the CTC Clinical Team, this position is the key to managing the daily census and determining the schedule for admissions, referrals and discharges. Working with the Case Managers, Clinicians and Nurses, this position will assist in determining through a medical screen, if the patient is appropriate for admission to the CTC level of care or if a referral to the continuum of care offered by Well Care or another entity is more appropriate for this person.
This role acts as a representative of the CTC and the organization when interacting with the public, community partners, referral sources and the potential patient and family. It is therefore important to use professionalism and excellent customer service, during all interactions, regardless of with whom.
Qualifications: This position of Intake Coordinator requires advanced knowledge of assessment and evaluation of medical and behavioral health issues. The person must understand how to deal with intoxicated people, law enforcement, Nursing staff and the rest of the team. Although not Case Managers, they will need to assist in the referral of those evaluated for services at the CTC, yet are not appropriate and need to be referred to other programs in coordination with the Nurse, Case Manager, or others at the CTC or the Clinic. The ability to multi-task, manage processes efficiently and effectively, manage potential patient behaviors, and must be resourceful and have good attention to detail. All qualities are highly desirable, and may be preferred in the selection.
High school diploma or GED required, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant or other medical background, preferred. Previous work in a behavioral healthcare setting is also preferred. This position must embody the vision of the program, and must be helpful with staff and patients. A person may qualify for this position with an equal combination of education and experience, and will operate under the guidance of those with the proper degree and/or licensure/ certification.
