    POSITION SUMMARY Colorado Legal Services seeks a full-time Intake Specialist in Craig to join our team in Northwest Colorado.

    This position plays a crucial role as the main point of contact for applicants seeking free legal services in the Northwest portion of Colorado.

    The Office / Intake Specialist receives, filters, and processes phone, online and in-person applications in collaboration with the NW Team, provides helpful referrals to other resources, and performs office tasks, such as word processing, filing, and ordering supplies.

    This role also coordinates outreach events and opportunities with other local organizations to ensure potential clients and agencies know about our services and how to access them.

    This job is hybrid and will require 4 days in the office, with one optional remote or community outreach day each week. This is a unionized position covered by CLS’s collective bargaining agreement.

    • ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Client Interaction : Screen phone, online, and walk-in applicants for program eligibility, making the initial determination as to suitability of applicant for CLS services versus referrals to another community group;
    • Staff Office : Staff the local office four days a week, managing walk-in applicants, ordering office supplies and checking the PO box twice a week;

    Conduct full intake interviews, including topic specific questionnaires, with accuracy, attention to details, respect, and in accordance with case handling protocols and procedures.

    Community Outreach : Build relationship with local service providers and community resources through outreach events and to provide responsive referrals to ineligible clients;

    Technological Knowledge : Learn and effectively use new technology, like CLS’ case management systems to complete intakes and document case progress, like zoom phones, teams, e-mail, & r-sign to serve clients.

    Teamwork : Communicate and work with the Northwest team through remote communication to serve clients. Participate in remote team meetings, trainings, and case review as needed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    • Education : A high school diploma or GED;
    • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage compassionately with applicants and teammates, while maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, active listening, and attention to detail;
    • Technological Skills : Experience with Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, email, and database. Ability to learn new technology, including an online phone system, a case management system, file sharing software, and remote communication tools like teams and virtual meetings;
    • Client services or customer service experience, preferably with low-income, non-English speakers, or other vulnerable communities;
    • Be able to work with a team and independently, organizing your time and managing multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail;

    Travel : Be able to travel periodically to participate in local outreach events in Routt, Grand and Moffat; Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of low-income persons, seniors, and non-English speakers.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Bilingual Spanish / English 1 years of customer service or public interaction with low-income or other vulnerable communities.
