Insurance and Risk Management Director directs the development and optimization of an organization's overall insurance program to manage and minimize risk and costs. Defines strategic objectives and policies to ensure effective insurance coverage for the organization and to develop risk financing budgeting. Being an Insurance and Risk Management Director implements processes that identify risk exposure and classify, measure, and manage insurable risks. Develops the appropriate mix of insurance coverage for the organization and negotiate policy pricing and terms with vendors. Additionally, Insurance and Risk Management Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Insurance and Risk Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Insurance and Risk Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Risk Manager will coordinate the risk management & patient safety program, including participation in clinical risk management, claims management, patient and visitor safety program administration and education for this facility. This position contributes toward those systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures. She/he will provide counseling and education to facility leadership, clinical and non clinical personnel, and medical staff members related to risk exposures including risk prevention and patient safety initiatives. The Risk Manager will also participate in the management and support of professional liability litigation at the direction and under the guidance of HCI.

    The Risk Manager is responsible for the facility’s risk management activities, which include, but may not be limited to, a general knowledge of facility insurance programs and risk financing, managing claims against the facility, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day, managing and analyzing risk management data, conducting risk management educational programs, guest service management and oversight, as well as complying with risk management related standards by The Joint Commission, all with the objective of maintaining patient safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the facility. Responsible for compliance with the Risk Management statutes and rules of the state of Georgia.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • 3 years of hospital risk management or patient safety experience required
    • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Risk Management field preferred
    • Risk Management or Patient Safety Certification (CPHRM, CPPS) preferred
    • CPHRM certification preferred, if not at the time of hire, to be obtained within 24 hours
