Insulation Worker applies insulating material to exposed surfaces of structures such as air ducts, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks, and cold storage rooms. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being an Insulation Worker is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Insulation Worker performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Responsibilities:
- Install insulation materials in residential and commercial buildings
- Measure and cut insulation materials to fit specific areas
- Apply insulation using various techniques such as stapling, taping, or gluing
- Seal gaps and cracks to prevent air leaks
- Install vapor barriers and fire-resistant materials as needed
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working on job sites
- Clean up work areas and dispose of waste materials properly
Experience:
- Previous experience in insulation installation is preferred
- Knowledge of different types of insulation materials and their applications
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in insulation installation, such as airless paint sprayers, power tools, and trim carpentry tools
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints related to insulation installation
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical knowledge is a plus
- Experience in masonry or frame carpentry is beneficial
