Instructor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree, with a concentration in the discipline or related field.
Experience: Teaching experience preferably in a community college setting dealing with diverse student populations.
Skills/Abilities:
1. Ability to teach fundamental and/or upper level courses.
2. Ability to use appropriate instructional technology.
3. Ability to develop and use innovative instructional approaches such as collaborative learning and group problem solving.
4. Ability and willingness to work well with administrators, staff, and faculty.
